Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can we help you?

We want you to feel comfortable coming to AJK Family Dentistry.

Questions are a natural part of the process and we welcome any you might have, especially if you are newly joining us. After all, your oral health is as important to us as it is to you.

We have listed some of our most common questions below. Do not hesitate to approach us with a question not listed, we invite all discussions!

Children's Dentistry

We are delighted to see kids; we especially love seeing little ones around the time their first tooth emerges. We encourage parents to bring their children around us earlier if they are interested in becoming used to the dental office and the cleaning and exam process.

Your child can learn oral health habits that will help them stay healthy for the rest of their lives. This is a lot of pressure for such a young age!

While we understand just how important it is to maintain a healthy routine, we also know how essential it is to keep things fun and adventurous.

We Love Seeing Your Little Ones at Our Bellevue Dental Practice

Dr. Adam Kennedy is great at making sure the dentist's office isn't a scary place. We work hard to create and maintain a warm and welcoming environment that your child can feel secure in.

Do you have questions about your child's oral health? Never hesitate to call us. Together, we can gently guide your child into good oral health routines and habits.

We Welcome Patients of All Ages

During your child's first dental appointment, we will take the time to get them familiar with our dental equipment and how they sound.

If they are very young, we may start by simply brushing their teeth and examining around to look for cavities.

General and Preventive Dentistry

At AJK Family Dentistry, we never turn new patients away—even if it's a dental emergency. In fact, we invite you to call us if you have severe tooth pain, a knocked-out tooth, or other dental emergencies.

We are excited to welcome you to our practice. Your first visit will include pictures, necessary radiographs, and dedicated time with Dr. Kennedy. After welcoming and answering your questions, we will create a treatment plan based on your needs and goals.

We Are Always Expanding Our Dental Family

From designing a new smile to replacing missing teeth, Dr. Adam Kennedy is available for all your dental needs.

We love families, so bring your youngest or eldest to us. One of our favorite parts of what we do is watching our youngest patients grow and learn about oral health with their parents.

We work hard to be noticed; we're not a typical dental clinic that you go to once and forget about. We are in the practice of growing our dental family.

Excellent dentistry is a back-and-forth discussion of goals between the patient and the dentist. They ask questions, we listen, and we provide guidance when needed! We never recommend dental treatments without any thought to what our patients want. We love listening to what our patients need, and we help them set goals for their smiles.

Yes, we work with our patients to make sure they can receive the dentistry they need or want without worrying about any financial burdens.

The HSA, or health savings account, is an account that allows patients to pay for medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy costs while saving on taxes.

How Does My HSA Card Work?

Any money you put into your HSA account can be used to pay any qualified medical expenses, including dental or vision, or health insurance deductible.

Withdrawing from your HSA should only be used to cover medical expenses. Any non-qualified medical expenses will be taxed, usually at your income tax rate, along with a 10 percent tax penalty.

Many patients are eligible to apply for an HSA—we welcome any questions to clarify further.

Don't Let Finances Affect Your Oral Health

Dr. Kennedy and his expert dental staff work closely with patients to make sure they get the dental procedures they need to keep their smiles strong and healthy.

If you're worried about the cost of a procedure, please let us know. Together, we can find a solution that benefits everyone.

At AJK Family Dentistry, we treat our patients as part of our family, from the minute you walk in our door, we strive to keep each experience cheerful and pleasant.

Once we have a precise diagnosis of the treatment you need, Dr. Kennedy can create a plan to fulfill your needs best.

This plan includes a cost breakdown and has been prioritized based on urgency. We are a preferred provider for many insurances and accept CareCredit.

Accessible Dental Care

Like many Americans, you may be frustrated with the rising cost of dental insurance, especially if you are not accessing it through your employer.

If your job environment is not providing an adequate dental solution through your benefits package, or if your dental insurance covers fewer and fewer procedures, you may opt to pay out-of-pocket to maintain your oral health.

We want to help patients access high-quality dentistry—regardless of whether or not you have insurance. We offer many financing options, including CareCredit, which doesn't charge interest as long as you meet minimum monthly payments and the total cost of your treatment plan is completely paid off by the time the policy ends.

If you are interested in oral procedures, let Dr. Kennedy and his experienced dental team know. We work with our patients and their families so that we can avoid dental emergencies. We want our patients to be able to access the necessary dental therapies they need.

Call Our Bellevue, WA Dental Office to Learn More

At AJK Family Dentistry, we never want patients to forego necessary oral health procedures due to financial concerns.

Give our friendly and knowledgable dental team a call today, and we will do our best to work with your insurance provider or personal credit line.

It is always more cost-effective to address an immediate (and small) oral health concern before it becomes a dental emergency.

Invisible Braces

Yes—we have partnered with ClearCorrect to provide orthodontic therapy using clear aligners. Creating happier and healthier smiles is the most rewarding part of our job, and modern dental technology and equipment help us achieve this!

What Is Clear Aligner Therapy?

Clear aligners help us gently shift your teeth into the correct position without having to use metal brackets and wires.

Many of our Bellevue, WA patients love them because we make them from BPA-free, clear, comfortable plastic that does not damage your gums or lips. The aligners are removable, meaning patients can enjoy their favorite meals without having to navigate around an object on their teeth.

Being removable also means patients can uphold very high standards of oral health by brushing and flossing their teeth any time they want—especially after meals.

Is the Process Easy?

We find the transparent aligner process to be very straightforward. During your appointment with Dr. Kennedy, we take digital impressions of your teeth and determine what the treatment plan should be.

Then we fabricate the aligner trays. These are a series of aligners that patients wear for about two weeks before switching to the next set in the series. This process is not complicated, and patients can change out their own aligners.

Sedation Dentistry

Dr. Kennedy is an affiliate instructor at the University of Washington, where he treats patients with a dental phobia with sedation techniques. Using the latest tools and techniques, we strive to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Through sedation dentistry, we can keep patients comfortable and relaxed. Dental anxiety is a common fear among many adults. All it takes is one bad experience with the dentist when you were young, or even as an adult, for many patients to neglect keeping up with their regular dental cleaning and checkups.

Sedation dentistry allows Dr. Kennedy to perform the necessary procedures without being interrupted. We use nitrous oxide to bring patients to a dream-like state. This state will enable patients to answer Dr. Kennedy, and be aware of the procedure but not worry or stress over it.

Dr. Kennedy controls the amount of sedation a patient receives, and when the procedure is over, it only takes minutes for the nitrous oxide to clear. Patients can drive themselves home again without fear of falling asleep or being confused.
